This breed is best known as the star of Disney’s 101 Dalmatians. Its history goes back several hundred years. At first, it was bred to be a coach dog, but also a hunter, firehouse dog, and circus performer. Dalmatian is probably one of the most recognized breeds on the planet, mainly due to its regal carriage and unique sports.

Many people are attracted to its dashingly good looks, but unfortunately it is not for everyone. It must be remembered that those dogs love to be with their owners and they are wonderful companion dogs, but their high energy level can be exhausting to live with.

They were bred to run for miles alongside carriages, helping ward off highwaymen. What is more, their role was to add a touch to flair to the vehicle with aristocratic passengers. If you have been considering a Dalmatian, be aware that the breed is not only highly active, but also remarkably intelligent.

One thing is very important – they need to be trained early in their life to establish basic rules of behavior. Otherwise, they will consider their job to be chasing things.
