We support Sweet Charity Medical Assistance Dogs!
Canadian Registered Charity in Barrie, Ontario exists to train dogs to help people who need them. It’s that simple! We have 3 different charitable programs. Our Diabetes Alert Dog (DAD) program trains puppies as service dogs to match them with children ages 8 and older with Type 1 diabetes. The dogs are professionally trained to recognize low blood sugars and alert the child or get help.
Our Diabetes Support Dog (DSD) program trains rescue dogs as service dogs to help mitigate the impact of high stress and mental health concerns in children and youth with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. The dog acts as an emotional and psychological support system for the youth.
In our Canine Ambassador Program (CAP) ambassador teams, made up of staff and pet dogs trained to be therapy dogs, promote positive socialization and calm interactions with a goal of promoting well-being and positive mental health.
The ambassador teams are trained to provide emotional support in the safety of the particular facility.
